Mike Schulist at Miller Creek worked on a new lesson with his 8th graders. How to draw a model of three cubes that have different densities. What do they look like inside? How do we draw that as a model?

Below are pictures from 3rd, 4th , and 5th grade classes, and their clay boat lessons. Check out the comments below and feel free to add any ideas and helpful management tips! At our coaches meeting, we shared that many outside resources are written using a 5 E lesson plan format. Nancy Tsung shared a template that might be helpful as you are developing your plans for your lessons. Thank you Carol Sackett, iTEAMS coach, for all this hard work!
I love when I start to look for one thing and I stumble upon such great resources! For the earth science teachers: The NASA's BEST student guides has 9 design challenges (one guide for 3-5 and one for 6-8). An extensive list of STEM resources: websites, games, apps, contests, camps, and careers resources. K-12 (including a section on Math) 3D technology meets life science... All of these resources are off the NSTA Freebie site. So much more to explore!
Thanks Angel Wells for this great resource for NGSS videos... Travis Benner has many more videos on other topics on his youtube channel.
This is a good article that models the design/engineering thinking model. It is written for ELL's but I think it is valuable for all learns.
