Mike Schulist and Erik Lunde – Middle School Science We will show examples of NGSS aligned projects & activities we have developed in 8th and 6th grade, which include: Building and testing Newton Scooters; Building a giant periodic table with pizza box models, and creating new methods to encourage student discourse. Adam Singer – Middle School Engineering I am in the process of retooling our traditional shop class into a maker-oriented STEM class utilizing the NGSS Science and Engineering Practices to guide the student design process to address meaningful problems. I am hoping that having students conduct initial guided formal investigations, do reflective writing on their challenges and problem solving will improve their engineering design process. Lindsay Hess – Elementary Science Students will demonstrate their understanding of the engineering practices while solving a common occurrence in downtown San Anselmo. They will be working with a partner to show their understanding of weather, water, and successfully working together to devise a solution. |
