I attended this event on Saturday and picked up some great lessons that help support the practices (science and engineering) in the NGSS and also tie into the content. This was a well organized event if you ever get a chance to attend. I have included the lessons they shared along with the web address for Cal. Academy's educator page with many more activities. Sustainable Livestock: Life sciences and enviromental issues What the fog?: Developing models and showing weather patterns. Live webcams: Ideas for how ot use them and many resources of wonderful webcams of animal life. Blue and Bubbly Investigation: Great activity on chemical reactions and having students set up their own investigations. By far, my favorite lesson that evening! California Academy of Sciences educator page: Many different lessons and resources that are listed by grade level! Great video about building roller coasters and STEM teaching practices. There are other videos STEM also on this site. Thank you Nancy Tseng, iTEAMS coach, for sharing.
If you have the Animator app for your iPad or tablet, here is a great lesson on Newton's Laws and how to make a flip book!
