Eddie Gutierrez's 5th grade class experimented with parachutes in class. They all made a parachute to the same specifications. They used what they discovered to design a parachute that will carefully carry an egg safely to the ground. (see videos below)
Videos of the parachute/egg drop.... 2nd iterations coming later in the Spring....
This ties in very nicely with the parachute lesson from January. 3-5 grade teachers check it out!
Here is a TED-ED video with all the vocabulary about earthquakes that we learned about this summer during our training. The video is a great watch for all teachers, but might be hard to grasp for elementary students.
Thanks Jenny Cavanna! Great STEM lesson for 3rd grade!.
3rd Grade at Glenwood School worked on Earthquake Structures. Here are some pictures along with a couple slow motion videos. They were filmed using the SloPro app on an iPad. You can't email the videos unless you upgrade to the paid version. You can find more information from the Exploratorium on the Professional Development Page. Click on the Exploratorium Resources.
Thank you Gina Tanner and Ed Malaret from Mary E. Silveira school for this resource. Pictures from San Pedro's 4th grade pasta structures
