The Periodic table modeling activity was very dynamic and engaging. Seems like there was a lot to prepare. Did the students make the element "pizza boxes" inside and outside? It seems like students could either make a new boxes or simply sort the premade boxes.

The students made the boxes inside and outside. We did provide them with a pre-made, color coded periodic table symbol to get them started.

Your presentation was both inspiring and extremely entertaining. I simply love the general approach you both have to framing challenges with really fun twists to them, also adding ridiculous excitement like the drone video. Behind the excitement and fun, there is some serious structure that I'm totally stealing. Thank you for posting the graphing toy cars criteria. Looks like an excellent scaffold for a rubric. So great to work closely with you two for 3 years! Will miss working with you guys.

I do a unit on kinetic energy and after seeing your presentation I am going to extend the unit to include graphing of test results. Thank you.

It was great to see all the learning that has happened due to this grant. I could see my students moving up comfortably and feeling confident in doing these projects. I liked the periodic table. The connection to graphing crosses over curriculum.

loved seeing the periódic table being completed, how much time did students need to complete their models and what was the total time investment in creating the actual table?

It took about a week to make the boxes, and then another two days to lay them out and analyze them. We experiences many rain delays this year, which was frustrating (pizza boxes lined the walls of our classrooms for weeks...)

Mike and Erik, your presentation was very impressive. First of all, the work the students did on the Periodic Table was outstanding -- they clearly learned a lot about atomic number and what it means in regard to protons, etc. Then, you did an amazing video to top it off! I'm so glad my presentation was before yours, because I'd never be able to follow that.
