TEACHER PRESENTATIONS

Carolyn Robello, Cindy Leroux, Ramina Winton, and Michelle Giraud – Elementary Science We will be presenting a description of the activities, the students’ reflections after completing the activity, and the ability to explain their thinking and findings using the content vocabulary.

The gallery walk was a great idea! I liked how you had the students classify as flood, hazard and solution. I'm sure it engaged the students and had them start thinking about their designs.

I really enjoyed seeing how you approached this science concept. We've done it at my school before, but haven't been able to add in the sharing piece very well yet due to the outside general messiness of the project. I agree, the gallery walk is an excellent way for the students to share their ideas and then iterate the next day.

Perfect lesson and design challenge with our winter weather. Love being able to tie in with what is really happening around us - much more meaningful

I also really liked how you did the gallery walk and included a way to pre-learn important vocabulary for the students. I also like the organization of the process of this design challenge and cannot wait to try it with my students. I took my students on a field trip to LHS and it was an urban planning/water class that was really similar and the students got a lot out of it.

loved the sequence of activities and the planning/collaboration and journaling, your photos revealed all students got from this activity

I was really inspired by your presentation! I think our students would enjoy the design challenge. Really great, explicit process for students to experience!
