John Flanagan – Middle School Science I helped start up an English Language Development Science program at Davidson for newcomers and limited English students who wouldn't have been able to take science in the past. In this session, I'm sharing some slides of what the students are doing, along with several other slides with instructional advice and resource ideas. If you can't stop by, check out the PPT through the iTeams website! Molly O'Donoghue, Edgar Gutierrez, Sarah Zykanov, Chris Gonzales, and Colin Johnson – Elementary Science From Pre- to Post-test, discover how English Language Learners develop language to describe how the internal and external structures of living organisms aid in survival throughout the various California Regions. Angela Hood, Jenni Conte, and Rachel Ehrlich - Elementary Science Through hands on exploration, students are able to express and refine their science knowledge to reflect their understanding of science engineering principles. We will demonstrate over 6 engineering/math challenges how the scientific discourse was refined through iteration and has positively impacted both logic and writing in the classroom. |
