I would like to know more about the damn project. Purpose? NGSS Standards? Components of lessons?

Sue, the purpose of the lesson was to have kids think about humans' impact on the environment and to design a solution for a problem while staying within a fixed budget. They had to "purchase" the supplies they needed to build their dams. The lesson plans will be posted on the iTEAMS site soon.

Casey and Ashley, this is outstanding. You clearly and carefully laid out a project that will allow the students to apply most of the engineering practices along with connecting it to current events (El Nino). Well done!

Very cool! It'd be interesting in reading about the students' though process behind the materials that they chose to make their dam.

Such a well-structured project! Great packet guiding them through all the steps: research, planning, reflection. I particularly admired the "Melody Depot" fixed budget you gave the students. I have been striving to include cost as both a design constraint or score factor in projects. Well done!
