There are some interesting projects out there where your students can help collect data for global projects. Check them and out and have your students start collecting data for real world science!
At our coaches meeting, we shared that many outside resources are written using a 5 E lesson plan format. Nancy Tsung shared a template that might be helpful as you are developing your plans for your lessons. The Digital Chalkboard is where California educators get connected, collaborate, and share the best practices, best resources, best strategies — you might say the best of the best. Not a lot on NGSS... yet... but a lot of good resources on best practices. Habitat Earth HD: a special version of our award-winning planetarium show made specifically for educators. The show, which is now free to watch or download online, is complemented by a suite of science-rich media designed specifically for classrooms and informal learning environments. IgnitedLearning, established by our colleague Nate MacDonald from White Hill Middle School won best in class at the San Mateo 2015 Maker Faire. The site was built by teachers for teachers to provide educators with the supplies and lesson ideas to encourage and stimulate the Maker Educator community. Nice job Nate! The Lemonade Stand video shows how to make a control experiment with one variable. Many other ideas from Design Squad, NASA, and Engineering is Elementary.
