"This (is a) great book to read to your class when you start animal adaptations/habitats. It's a cute book about Walking Sticks, but also includes incredible information about them. Also, if you are using the Lucy Calkins units of study, this is a great book to show when teaching your informational unit. Fabulous Frogs is another book I found, set up in a similar way as the Walking Stick book and very informative!" Lindsay Hess Wade Thomas

Making the connection with literature and our science content supports our focus on our SEAL training and implementation this year. These texts can be additional resources when we begin our plant and animal ecosystems unit soon bridging content with literature. Our grade level is considering the frog lesson we were exposed to at an iTEAMS class 2 summers ago as part of this upcoming unit.

Thanks for these resources. I found a good book on camouflage called Where In The Wild? Camouflaged Creatures Concealed... and Revealed. Each animal is camouflaged in the picture and there is a poem written about it. We have the students make their own camouflage drawing and write a poem.

Thanks! As a SEAL school it is exciting to have some good books to either place in our research center or use for our dialogic read aloud!
