Thank you for sharing how you worked to increase math talk in your classrooms. I liked reading the students' reflections on the process. I'd love to know where you found your POWs!

I was really inspired by this presentation. My fourth grade colleagues are also curious to focus on this in the future. We work with English Language Learners so the need to teach kids the language they need to have a real discussion is obvious. I loved watching the videos that showed growth in how students communicated with each other. This would help students become more confident problem solvers in many areas. I look forward to reading Number Talks and finding ways to work this into my teaching on a regular basis.

Loved listening to the gals how incorporating "math discourse" has changed the ways the students are able to dialogue with one another and allow for all students to have a voice with reasoning. I was so curious to hear how they did it as it has been a topic of conversation and lots of work on the part of our entire middle school science department. We are developing science discourse cubes, sentence stems and the opportunities for all students to be a part of a science conversation. This was really inspirational.

Thank you for sharing how you encourage communication during math. The discourse in conversation is so valuable. Love the math talk sentence starters the most!
