For the structures of the arm, instead of using mat board, DMS teachers are using meat packing trays donated by a local supermarket.

For the paper bridges, you can use pennies or quarters from the bank and then return them when you are done. A "loan" of materials!

Another resource for the washer bridge, sheets of 1 inch tiles from the hardware store. 100 tiles on each sheet for a few $'s (Thanks Colin for this great idea!)
