Melody Murphy, 5th grade at Glenwood, used these resources on her Google Classroom for her students to explore water. They were told to be prepared to talk about something they learned or noticed.
They then read from 'Canals and Dams' talking about the impact of humans on water (needing it for crops, etc) and what they used to tame water or get it where they need it. All this leading up to the dam project.

I love how it started so open ended, allowing students to read what they were interested in before having a discussion. I also think it's good that they then read about how humans impact water.

This is a great introduction to the water cycle with the interactive site and videos. I could see using this as a starting point and then start discussing/ researching local watersheds.

Great description of a watershed in the first video. I could see using this video with our third grade class, and making the connection to our creek, and the community as a whole.
