I have posted this before, but a new year means new resources! Videos, lessons, training tools, etc!

I sometimes forget what a fantastic teacher ed department they have. I am working on more reflection with my students this year. Lo and behold, what is on their site, but all about reflections, lingering questions. So very helpful and practical. easy to implement!

I am currently using their Evolution kit for my 8th graders. The kit has some really good activities that are not 100% NGSS but can easily be tweaked. I will be using their Geology Kit in a few weeks.

This is a great resource. I just found an activity for our earth sciences unit on measuring earthquake waves. Students will learn to interpret seismic data, triangulate an earthquake, and use data to predict the locations of tectonic plates!

Thanks again for the reminder of this great resource. I was able to find a lesson plan to go with my "Eye" unit that helps a student understand why humans have two eyes instead of just one. It has an activity that goes along with it that only takes paper and pencil but should be fun for the kids to do. What is also wonderful is that they list the crosscutting concepts, practices and Disciplinary core ideas so you know which ones at your grade level is being covered.

The information about the Science Notebooks on this site is very helpful in setting students up with notebooks for the year. Last year I did some observation work with students in a small recording notebook, but they were not sure how to sketch or what to sketch. Having actual student examples is really helpful!
